Postmodern Ruins: The Dolphinarium Site and Dizengoff Square
The exhibition raises questions concerning the future of Tel Aviv-Yafo’s postmodernist spaces, whose construction began in the 1970s and has continued until today in varying configurations.
There is a resemblance between the complex and multi-layered definition of postmodernism as a concept, and the assimilation of postmodernist ideas in the architecture of Tel Aviv. Postmodern Ruins aims to go back to the trend’s opening moments and define the characteristics of this architecture in Tel Aviv-Yafo in the context of the demolition of two postmodernist regions in the city: the Dolphinarium site and the split-level version of Dizengoff Square. In parallel, the exhibition features an installation of models of other postmodernist buildings in the city.
