Things That Are, Even If They Cannot Be Seen / Launch of the children’s book Things That Aren’t by Shalom Zuckerman, 2025 / Activity for children aged 5+ and their parents (in Hebrew)

Join us on an event celebrating creativity, exploration, and reflection, inspired by the children’s book Things That Aren’t, which draws upon the world of artist Micha Ullman.

Ullman, one of Israel’s most prominent artists, is known for his works that explore the relationship between presence and absence, between earth and sky, and between people and their surroundings. His works touch upon time, memory, and space, inviting us to see the “nothing” as a realm of thought, quiet, and beauty. Join us for an evening of discovery, imagination, and creation inspired by an artist who turned emptiness into substance and transformed “nothing” into “something.”

The event will open with a festive reading of the story, followed by hands-on creative experiences. Over the course of an hour and a half, participants can choose three out of five activity stations—each introducing young visitors to an idea drawn from Ullman’s work: sand, absence of space, shadow, gap, and time.

Activity Stations:
Sand Table: Sand, transparencies, and texture inspired by material and light
White on White: Revealed and hidden: drawing in white using pastels and watercolors
Shadow Work: Houses, shadows, and missing spaces
Echoes of Shapes: Creating with pencils on stencils, leaves, and changing forms
Experiential Tour: A walk among Micha Ullman’s works, accompanied by an enriching activity
